Why triathlon? The influence of a good friend (hello Angie!) has played a major part, but I was also asked to be the runner as part of a team for Noosa 2008. I really enjoyed the atmosphere....
Upcoming goals Noosa 2009 on 01 Nov is my first Olympic distance triathlon. I would also like to improve my swimming. I have entered my first ocean swim too.
Stengths Not swimming! I enjoy running the most.
Proudest moment in sport I remember feeling very good when I finished my first half-marathon in a time better than anticipated.
Personal bests Finally completing a half-marathon in 100 minutes (though I was aiming for sub 100 minutes and kinda count 100 minutes 4 seconds as achieving this goal....never have 5 s made such a major impact!).
What is the key to successful training? Being rather organised (or selfish) with your time. It helps me if I am super organised and pack my bag the night before and have a clear idea what I am doing at the next training session.... I am most likely to skip the swim sessions so I try not to go home beforehand.
What motivates you the most? To be better than last time...
Your words of wisdom Hmmm- I have a really good banana bread recipe that I like to think is good for me. Mash 2 - 3 bananas with 1 egg and 0.5 cup milk (may need a touch more depnding on how many bananas you use). Add 2 cups of wholemeal self-raising flour and 0.5 cup brown sugar. Sultanas, chopped dates or nuts are optional. Bake at 180 C for 1 h or so. Freezes well and tastes yummy toasted and served with ricotta cheese and honey.
