| Why triathlon? |
Triathlon provides variety in training and racing that stimulates the desire to get out there each day to enjoy and improve. |
| Upcoming goals |
Australian Ironman, 2010. It has been the main training and racing focus over the past decade. At some stage I would like to do a major off-road run or adventure race. Maybe in a couple of years. Keep track of Greg's countdown to Ironman Australia. |
| Stengths |
My run is stronger than my bike is a lot stronger than my swim. |
| Proudest moment in sport |
That is too hard. There have been many satisfying achievements. I suppose my earliest achievement which instilled the notion 'to complete is to win' was at the National Championship 160km one day endurance ride (horse) at 17y/o. I placed about 18th. However, just finishing with a sound horse and receiving the coveted Quilty buckle was a great achevement for me. |
| Personal bests |
7th in 400km in 5 days Shahzada endurance test (horse) at 17yo; Hawkesbury River Bridge to Bridge water ski race 2nd 6.0L inboard; Sub-10hr at Ironman Aus in 2006; Sub-3hr at Sydney Marathon this year. Get the endurance theme! |
| What is the key to successful training? |
Consistency, consistency and consistency. Plus rest when needed. Not over training and listen to the coach!! Oh, and listen to the wife!! |
| What motivates you the most? |
Striving for the perfect race. Knowing life is only so long and enjoying that time with family and friends. |
| Your words of wisdom |
A great saying of mine, which I try to apply in work, sport and life - Never Never Quit. |
